July 19th 2026,
Hey everybody. I recently sent letters to organizations and media outlets, and I want to make a few things clear. Most CRA employees are there to help, and over the years I've worked with some great ones. But there are some people, and some policies, that are simply hurting Canadians. I've done street outreach and shelter work, and I've watched people rebuild their lives once their taxes were finally sorted — reunited with family, housed, started their own businesses. Two people I helped even paid for their own detox. Bottom line: everyone is entitled to their own money. I applied for an e-filer number and have been delayed, spoken down to, and redirected more times than I can count. Meanwhile, an American-owned big-box tax chain charged Canadians an estimated $300 million last year — and they can operate freely, while I get stonewalled for trying to help people without restrictions. So, Max — feel free to watch the videos, and let me know when my number's active.
Want your last 10 years of taxes reviewed, anything adjusted that needs it, and every record — income slips, Notices of Assessment, RRSP room, CRA letters — organized into one neat package and mailed to you? $249, or pay what you can. Real relief from real stress. Let's get it done.
There's a solid volunteer tax program out there, but it comes with restrictions that end up excluding some of the people who need help most. I believe if someone needs help, they get help — no eligibility checklist deciding who's "worthy." This video's audio isn't great on the other end, but the point stands: I'd rather work outside the lines than turn people away.
Max from E-FILE, last call. He referred me to another program, so I called back. He asked again if I'm a CPA or accountant. I explained — again — that I want to help anyone, without restrictions. It's hard for him to wrap his head around that. Audio's rough in places, sorry about that. Bottom line: I now have to fax reference letters from past employers just to prove I can fill out a TD1. No clear timeline on the e-filer number — just that it "could" happen fast.
CRA called just after 5am to discuss a client — I was asleep. The voicemail asked me to call back a number. I did: "this number is not monitored, no voicemail is checked, call this other number." I called that one: not in service. This was around day 250 of trying to get income slips for a senior client. I got them eventually. Total time from my first request to slips in hand: 308 days. Yes, I'm filming this from bed. No, I don't care.
A quick rundown of the 308-day timeline it took to get basic information from CRA. This is genuinely why some people give up. I'll say it again: there are some amazing people at CRA. I just wish they all were.
